Climate Action Pacific Partnership Conference
13-14 May 2019, Suva, Fiji
The third Climate Action Pacific Partnership Conference (CAPP III) will be held on 13 and 14 May, 2019 at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva, Fiji. The welcome reception will take place on the evening of Monday 13 May, 2019. The Conference is planned to align with the visit of the UN Secretary General, Mr António Guterres.
Emphasising the need for urgency as we fast approach 2020, and actions required to keep the 1.5°C target alive, CAPP III sessions will be framed around the Talanoa Call for Action that was presented at COP24 in Poland last year. The conference will also provide a platform to amplify the voice of the Pacific Island Countries in the UN Climate Summit in September this year.
Participants will be engaged in two days of lively discussion on how climate action can be accelerated, and transformative changes achieved in the Pacific, and how this can inspire action globally. Progressing the work of the Regional Pacific NDC Hub and the Ocean Pathway will be areas of focus. Discussions will also capture efforts made to increase resilience in Pacific Island Countries.

The inaugural Climate Action Pacific Partnership (CAPP) event was held on 3 and 4 July at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva, Fiji. The event was organised in recognition of the need to support and strengthen the participation of Pacific Small Island Developing Sates (P-SIDS) in the global climate action agenda. The CAPP event brought together relevant stakeholders to promote the exchange of ideas, innovations, and solutions. It helped drive transformative outcomes and initiatives to boost climate action in the Pacific, and inspire urgently needed increases in ambition and action elsewhere. The CAPP event is part of a program of activities of the High Level Champions appointed under the Paris Agreement, hosted by Fiji’s High Level Champion, Minister Seruiratu. The agenda featured interactive sessions with contributions from Pacific leaders, civil society and the private sector.
