Photographer’s Caption: This photograph was taken inside the Chuuk Lagoon on the 23rd of July 2017. Gradual change of ocean temperatures affects the fishing livelihood of the peoples of the Pacific Islands.

Photographer’s Caption: Mangrove forest on the Island of Tol inside Chuuk Lagoon help protect both the island and the people from the threat of the rising sea level. They are sometimes labeled as “survivors” because their roots are submerged in water that is muddy, hot and salty, whichwould quickly kill most plants in this condition. Not only that, they support a diversity of biodiversity. Pacific islands in return must learn to adopt and be resilient like the mangroves in order to survive.
