Event Notes: Climate Watch and PREPdata (the Partnership for Resilience and Preparedness) are new, innovative data-centered platforms designed to increase transparency of and access to data to empower informed and efficient decision-making on adaptation and mitigation actions.    Climate Watch is a global data platform of open data related to NDC planning and implementation. It contains the world’s first granular database and visualization of linkages between each of the 165 NDCs and 169 SDG targets, which are especially important in Small Island Development States (SIDS). This platform also offers global data on NDC contents, indicators of poverty, vulnerability, and readiness, historic and future emissions pathways, and others – information and analysis that is urgently needed in developing countries lacking capacity.   Another powerful partnership, PREP, through its platform PREPdata, aims to improve access to climate resilience data, and empower communities and businesses to better plan for and build climate resilience. Launching in January 2018, PREPdata enhances access to relevant data on climate adaptation and resilience planning to help practitioners, investors, and resource managers more easily incorporate climate risks into their decisions. PREPdata also allows users to track key climate-relevant indicators and share those through customized dashboards and stories. PREP promotes collaboration among producers and users of information, fosters standards to enhance accessibility and interoperability of data and information products, and develops platforms that improve data accessibility and knowledge sharing.   The event will include a walk-through of Climate Watch and the PREP platforms, focusing on the scope and concept of the two tools and how they can benefit adaptation and resilience practitioners, particularly those in vulnerable regions such as SIDS.
