From Global to Local Series: Familiar Actors in New Roles: Regional Coordination for Local Climate Action

@ 10:00 - 11:00

Categories: Talanoa Space Events

Location: Talanoa Space (Bonn Zone)

Organiser: Deutscher Landkreis, in Cooperation with LK Gießen, Under2MoU

Event Notes: Imagine you're a small local government, perhaps in a rural area. National or supra-national financing is available, still it remains challenging to summon your vision, drive, and resources to act on climate change. In this situation, a familiar regional actor reappears on stage. As a regional coordinator it is leading towards local climate action – supporting you and your neighbouring local governments in pooling resources and expertise and realising your potential. In this session, we will explore this new role for intermediary regional/ territorial actors such as counties, districts and provinces. What does it take to lead – and what kind of leadership leads to climate action? Together we will identify constructive forms of regional cooperation and draw from examples from the German Landkreise, the Under 2 Coalition and your contributions.
